Colorado is in the southwestern part of the United States. Home to famous ski resorts and depends on tourism for much of its income. Most of the population lives along the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains, which is somewhat protected from storms by the mountains. Colorado is known to have 550 mountain peaks that are over 4000 meters in height. Most of the climate is considered cool and dry and has is the leader in deaths due to lightening strikes. Denver contains over half the population of the state.
